Barrett Manifesto

I picked up a book the other week. Whipping Girl, by Julia Serano. I'd never heard of it, but after stumbling on a review it seemed worth a look.

I was blown away. The book changed my entire outlook. On transsexuality, trans politics, and feminism. I've never had a written work strike such a chord with me. It's not just that I agree with her- she actually changed my views on several things. My first post, written not very long ago, seems ancient. I wouldn't write that today.

I won't try yet to explain what she wrote or how she enlightened me. I wouldn't do it justice. Her site (linked above) should give you a good jist.

I'm really glad I discovered her. Now, if someone asks me what I think about the whole issue, I can get off by saying "I pretty much agree with Julia Serano."
